Painting Ikea Cabinets. Start by removing the hardware lock and wiping down the cabinet with a mild detergent. Wipe with a rag then finish with a tack cloth.
IKEA cabinet doors are made from melamine foil which is durable and easy to clean but difficult to get paint to stick to. Paint at least two coats of Primer. We wanted to go a little higher-end with the paint than we normally do so we chose Benjamin Moore Aura in Chantilly Lace color and a satin sheen.
Heres how I did it.
The final paint color was Sherwin Williams Sea Salt a latex water-based paint. Clean the IKEA furniture piece and make sure the surface is lint free. The soft blue makes me feel like I am shopping in a pretty dress shop. I used the same process for painting an IKEA Besta cabinet.
